Fuji Television’s weekday variety show, “Waratte Iitomo!“, has revived its broadcast on March 21st after a 10-day hiatus. The noon-time Monday-to-Friday show stopped broadcasting the day after the Great Tohoku Kanto Earthquake. According to Fuji TV, it was the first time in the show’s 29-year history that it was forced to take more than a four-day interval between episodes; the last time this happened was in 1995, when the show had to shut down temporarily because of the Great Hanshin Earthquake.
In any case, “Warratte Iitomo!” began its March 21st broadcast with Tamori’s condolences to the victims. One of the Monday regulars, Katori Shingo (of SMAP) also appeared in a black suit, which contrasted greatly with his usual zany costumes. In the beginning, the studio was filled with a sad mood, but when Tamura Atsushi (London Boots No.1 No.2) said with a big smile, “We will send cheers from Iitomo!“, it brightened the audience right up.
w-inds. was supposed to be the next guest on “Telephone Shocking”, however, because the show experienced a hiatus, they could not make their scheduled appearance. Comedian duo, Jarujaru, appeared on the corner instead.
